SDAFF – Day 1

Awesome! I got to be a "paparazzi" and photograph the stars (including MC Hammer!) up close and personal! 🙂 I saw Finishing The Game (wonderful!) and got to see and hear from most of cast before and after.

Isabella is a Cantonese film that is great character study and lively tale of two people searching for love and acceptance against the backdrop of Macao right before returning to Chinese governance…

Welcome to the 8th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival!

Introducing the Buzz

Check out The Buzz, our virtual newsroom where you can experience the sights and sounds of the San Diego Asian Film Festival in multiple ways.

Daily video reports from the Down Low take you behind the scenes. In the first installment, the SDAFF's own Lee Ann Kim and Michael Chen give a sneak peek of some of the festival's films and festivities. Watch it here.

This year we're partnering with TVU Networks to bring you live coverage of the festival. From the festival web site you'll be able to tune into live video broadcasts of opening night red carpet entrances, our star-studded gala awards dinner, filmmaker interviews, and much more.

See it live on The Buzz.

Blowfish Music Party on Friday, Oct 12

Come kick off SDAFF 2007 with our second annual music and video showcase. A dynamic convergence of Asian American talent, Blowfish is an exploration of the intersection of beats, rhymes and film, through live performance and projected videos. Don't miss this party, a deadly but delicious mix of Los Angeles party-rocking with San Diego flavor.

Featured performers include the new school sounds of Far*east Movement, the classic hip-hop vibe of The Upstarts, and the Middle Eastern tinged beats and incendiary rhymes of Timz.

Friday, October 12
10 PM (doors open at 8)
Aubergine (Downtown San Diego)
500 4th and Island
San Diego, CA 92101

MC Hammer Confirmed to Attend Opening Night, October 11

Widely known for this crossover rap hits and baggy parachute pants, Hammer also was the angel investor who supplied emergency funding for Justin Lin's breakthrough film, "Better Luck Tomorrow." Look out for Hammer's cameo in Lin's latest feature, FINISHING THE GAME.

We have run out of online tickets for FINISHING THE GAME. Rush line tickets may be available 15 minutes before the showtime. Please arrive early if you plan to get in the rush line outside of the theater.

Local Baby Focus of Bone Marrow Drive, Oct. 12-13, at the Festival

Help save lives by registering yourself with the national bone marrow registry! It just takes a simple cotton swab of the mouth.

This drive is dedicated to little Jonah Chuang, born in August with a rare bone marrow disease. Meet Survivor: Cook Islands winner, Yul Kwon, who shares a personal story of losing his best friend to leukemia. The bone marrow drive will be outside in front of the UltraStar Hazard Center on Friday and Saturday, October 12-13, 4-9 PM.
